Designing a Budget-Friendly Bedroom

The excitement of moving into a new space or redecorating an existing one is a thrill that is easy to get carried away in. While it can be hard to stay within budget, Amazon’s fast shipping and great prices have saved me the stress of waiting months for delivery delays due to the lasting effects of the pandemic on the supply chain. In times like this, it can be a challenge to piece together furniture items that still uphold a luxurious and chic bedroom.

Starting off with the main furniture pieces… I went ahead and chose furniture that is light in color and airiness in texture. These pieces evoke a layer of comfort and coziness in a space. One of the textures known for creating a serene feeling is boucle as shown on the black wooden accent chair below. I decided to choose a combination of light grey, black, and natural tones to create depth across the space.

The next larger furniture/decor pieces I chose help make the space feel a bit cozier with the bench adding a spot to place your clothes while getting undressed, the acrylic accent table to sip coffee and read a book in the mornings, and the mirror that can be rested on the dresser to make the space feel a bit larger. In addition, one of the best ways to pull together a design and add instant comfort to a space is by including a rug. Whether it is wool, silk, jute, or cotton, the rug pattern and material you choose can help set the mood of a room.

Adding some life into the space, olive branches and eucalyptus are perfect for this space as they are great at evoking a calm environment. By incorporating different size variations of plants you can create another dimension to a room, thus I suggest layering a room with one larger tree and a smaller accent plant to spruce up any nightstand or console table.

The last step to completing a chic bedroom is finding personality pieces. With such a minimal range of colors in the room so far, I wanted to add a focal piece with the colorful checkered blanket. The deep colors from the blanket add moodiness to the space which pairs well with the exaggerated black-and-white photos. To pull the look together, I sourced an industrial-style copper bedside lamp that does wonders for the ambiance of the space. As for decor pieces, small wooden chain links are the perfect natural element to stack atop a few books or in a decorative bowl.
